Tactical NAV: Born from the Battlefield 🪖⛰️, Forged for Accuracy! 🎯 Created during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in Afghanistan, Tactical NAV emerged as the first MGRS-focused navigation app on all app stores. Developed by a U.S. Army Field Artillery officer, Capt. Jonathan J. Springer, this app was envisioned as a low-cost, highly accurate mobile navigation platform tailored for the U.S. military.
The Genesis: In the rugged terrains of the Pech River Valley and the Korengal Valley, Kunar Province, Afghanistan, Tactical NAV took its first breath. Capt. Springer, from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), initiated this project following the tragic loss of Spc. Blair D. Thompson and Spc. Jared C. Plunk on June 25, 2010. 🎖️💔
A Mission of Honor: Despite facing initial rejections from the Department of Defense, Capt. Springer remained committed to Tactical NAV's development, driven by the desire to make a positive impact on fellow service members and to honor those killed and wounded in action. 💪🇺🇸 He invested his personal savings into the app's development, hoping to save military lives and assist service members in their missions, both at home and abroad. Tactical NAV officially launched on February 14, 2011. 🗓️
Accuracy Redefined: Tactical NAV's performance matches the precision of the AN/PSN-13 Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR). 🛰️
Our Mission & Vision: Empowering military service members with a highly accurate and powerful mobile navigation platform, enabling them to operate and win in training and combat environments. 🌟
Proven Performance: Tactical NAV has been rigorously tested and evaluated against systems like Nett Warrior, ATAK, and BFT, achieving accuracy within 1 meter of these officially approved DoD systems. ✅
In-App Purchases & Subscriptions: Tactical NAV offers in-app purchases (IAPs) and subscriptions, including tactical drawing mode and offline mapping (available as a monthly or yearly subscription). All revenue supports further development and updates, with a portion donated to charities benefiting disabled veterans. 💖
Key Features: A military-quality precision targeting platform 🎯, purpose-built for the individual Soldier 🪖, offline mapping capabilities 🗺️, WGS-84 standard coordinates (MGRS, UTM, BNG, USNG) 📍, tactical drawing mode ✏️, waypoint plotting with military graphics 📊, Compass 'FastLock' function 🧭, photo-sharing capabilities 📸, one-button night mode function 🌙, and rigorous testing for utmost accuracy and reliability. 💯
Important Note: The Department of Defense does not endorse Tactical NAV, and it should not replace government-issued devices in life-threatening or combat situations.⚠️
